Tennocon 2019 Game-Plan
TICKETS PURCHASED - TENNOCON 2019
This is the best thing EVER!!
With out Tenno Con 2019 tickets, we also received their Digital Pack. The Digital Pack included ingame items/currency!! This is just another reason I enjoy this game/company. They are always thinking/looking out for their fellow gamers!!
I am excited, and anxious to announce my next big build. This year, we will be attending Tenno Con! (https://www.warframe.com/tennocon)
For those not familiar with Tenno Con, it is a convention centered around the Free to Play video game, Warframe! Our household places the game on PC, however you can create accounts of a variety of consoles – if that’s more your thing.
We purchased our tickets the second day they were released to the public. It is a good thing we did; they are SOLD OUT! Hotel accommodations are booked and we have now in tunnel vision. Just Like with Maghda, we will be posting clean progress material on my Blog (this Tumblr feed). I look forward to sharing this process with everyone!

I have selected Garuda as my next cosplay build/my cosplay build for TennoCon 2019! She is going to be a fantastic three-month challenge. Between playing her in-game and working on her out of game… I might just actually turn into a Frame!
GARUDA - THE GORE QUEEN
“Meet our 37th Warframe: GARUDA! Death’s crimson maiden. The blood of Garuda’s foes imbue her with strength and vitality. Visit Fortuna to earn this vicious new Warframe. If no Melee weapon is equipped, Garuda will resort to using her talons to deal damage and attack enemies. These claws can be Modded and upgraded in the Arsenal.
Cosplay sewing patterns and historical costume sewing patterns. Make bodysuits, corsets, capes, gowns, tunics and more for cosplay costumes. Cosplay events listing and cosplay tutorials.
I will be using Yaya Han’s Ultimate Bodysuit pattern, from McCall, as a base for my Tennogen. This is also the body suit pattern I used back in 2017 for my Talon cosplay. I am hoping to make it large enough for ‘LIGHT’-Stretch Fabrics; then fit it accordingly.
Pattern# : M7217 (Purchased from Joann Fabrics)

SUPPLIES RUN
The material for my base-bodysuit has been purchased. I even took advantage for the buy 3 get 2 sale on thread from JoAnn Fabrics.
Now we patient wait for my order from Bernina [USA] to arrive for pickup. Yay, new toys!! In the meantime, let’s draw up layers 2 and 3 for the bodysuit.
Thread: #gutermann #gutermannthread
Pattern(s): @yayahan @mccallpatterncompany
Fabric: 4-way stretch (performance fabric) @joann_stores
Zippers: (I grabbed a black visible and cranberry invisible… we shall see which one gets used.)
While I was mocking up the base pattern for Garuda’s body suit, I started sketching out the puzzle I was going to have to solve later. There are armor pieces that will be strapped on over the bodysuit. However, it was important for me to try and mimic the patterns and tissue-like layer that would be underneath it all.
Using my primary and secondary Warframe colors, I started to block out the areas. To try and keep things easy to understand as I ref. back to them; I added ‘P’ and “M” to their designated areas. Sort of looks like paint by numbers!!
Mock-Up
I am excited, and anxious to announce my next big build. This year, we will be attending Tenno Con this year!! (https://www.warframe.com/tennocon)
For those not familiar with Tenno Con, it is a convention centered around the Free to Play video game, Warframe! Our household plays the game on PC, however you can create accounts on a variety of consoles too.
We purchased our tickets within 48 hrs, with excitement. It is a good thing we did; they are SOLD OUT! Hotel accommodations are booked and we have now in tunnel vision. My Bernina [USA] Bernette Chicago 7 sewing machine has been a my number one studio worker! Besides being digital, it sees through just about ANYTHING I put it up against. I’m sure muslin is a nice change of pace!
I make most of my pattern drafts/mock-ups in muslin. I find the off white calming visually; especially when you are writing/altering for days at a time! Its inexpensive and holds up against my rough engineering!
Third time’s the charm. Never settle!! It took a couple tries; however this altered pattern fits over my boots perfectly. Reminder all these pieces are going to be made from non/minimal stretch fabric!
I selected a larger pattern size for this bodysuit; with the main idea of this being a non-stretch bodysuit. There will be little give with the finished fabric/foam suit. To make it easy to pull out my seams later I based my pattern pieces together using a long stitch setting on my machine and red thread. The Red thread made for easy seam-ripping later (due to the large stitch length, I was able to carefully pull my seams apart by hand!)
This is what it looked like without arms/legs and before test fitting and any adjustments were made. I made sure to iron my pattern pieces prior to sewing them together, this helped take out any wrinkles that had set into the muslin.

After making the needed alterations after our initial testing fitting ; we are ready to add the arms and legs to this Frankenstein creation. It was important to make sure everything fit perfect prior to adding the appendages!
Bodysuit
As much as I loved the simplicity of the original line-drawing; it was time to block out the colors and see exactly what I had to replicate.
I started with a watercolor/ink wash. The light pigment was the base I needed to start working back in. After a second layer of watercolors; I let the paper dry for a night before working oil pastels and wax pencils back into the bodysuit details.
For my, drawing out my designs before hand assists with problem solving different areas. As I sketch out certain areas I start to think about how I am going to achieve this particular task/look!!
I am not sure why I thought, this was going to be the easy part of Garuda’s build… All the puzzles in the world could not have prepared me for this Frankenstein of a creation. i am trying my damnedest to not get to discouraged as I try new techniques to get the suit to lay exactly as I envisioned.
**Feel free to send positive vibes our way. The Gore Queen is definitely giving us a run for our Endo!**

As I continue to make head way with Garuda. Here are some of the progress pictures from building her bodysuit. It is 3+ layers thick in some sections. I wanted to mimic her actual organic-texture into the base of this cosplay.
I know this is what you have been waiting for. Garuda’s bodysuit reveal! As I’m pushing through the “armor” layer of this cosplay; here is my finished suit.
I am super proud of how this two month puzzle came together. What started as thin pieces of fabric – really came together.
Zoom-in… I even nail her hip swirls; just like in game!! Ahhhhhhh

Armor Build
Garuda’s helmet was my favorite part of this cosplay for #TennoCon I could see out of the hand-dyed plastic visor. You truly have an understanding of how many pieces and parts there are; when it comes down to priming and wet-sanding! We do it all for The Gore Queen!
We humbly took home 2nd place this year at Tennocon 2019. It was an honor and a thrill to be able to walk across the Tennocon stage. It was amazing to be able to chat with all the other Warframe fans/cosplayers. We are already looking forward to Tennocon 2020!!
You can view our stage appearance at 12:30 (time stamp)
Thank you for all the positive messages, over the past week. The journey to TennoCon was rough at times. However, we pulled through and got Garuda finished in time!
Here are some of the pictures we nabbed this weekend at TennoCon. There were so many amazing artists that came together for this event. Between the life-like props and backdrops; you truly felt like you were in the game!! #thegorequeen
